Very good, in quarter red morocco slipcase, with chemise. ¶ With a fine, lengthy, presentation inscription to a fellow physician in ink on verso and recto of the flyleaf, from 1908, discussing the novel's import: " ... the usual fool has seen in it a furious onslaught on the medical profession. It is so little that or anything like it, that I cd send it to one of my closest friends with the inscription: 'To the daughter, & sister, & mother of doctors this book that tells of Vonrang (?), & young Russett, & Rook.' "N.B. The Am. publishers have altered the text where the misprints in the English edition rendered it unintelligible -" Maartens has corrected the alterations in pencil, throughout the text
