First edition, one of 252 copies printed on hand-made paper. 4to. 20 plates, 5 headpieces and 16 Binders' labels in text. 133 pp. Handbound by the translator in full red morocco, a.e.g. on the rough, French brocade silk doublures from fabric procured for her by the author. Faint traces of rubbing, light dampstaining along upper portion of text. ¶ Inserted at the back is the original two page prospectsu for the book, as well as a leaf bearing a two-page ALS (with its envelope) from the author Uzanne to the translator Miss McIlvaine about his willingness to procure for her the brocade for the dentelles and about the binding of this copy of the book by the Translator herself: "Paris 28.1.06 "Ch�re mademoiselle, "Votre mot qui m'est tr�s agr�able me parvient au moment o� je quitte Paris pour une absence de quelques semaines.- Je suis tr�s dispos� �a vous chercher l'etoffe de doublure de votre livre reli� - Toutefois, je d�sire savoir la dimension de la soie si vous l'employez non seulement � l'int�rieur du maroquin (sur le carton) mais aussi sur la garde de face. D'autre part d�sirez vous un ton complimentaire du vieux rouge, c'est � dire un vert turquoise, un bleu de mer ou quelqu'autre tonalit� se mariant au rouge chaudron, ou bien un ton dur ton, c'est � dire vieux rose, orange p�le, cuivre ou rouge brique - ?
