Womack Wright was an army officer whose active military career covered 48 years and three wars. Born in 1876 and an. honor graduate of George Washington University, he was commissioned 1st Lieutenant, 5th U.S. Infantry, in 1898. In Cuba, he served as an aide to Gen. Leonard Wood. After this war, he remained in the army retiring in the rank of colonel in 1940. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for his work in the A.E.F. during WWI.
