Original pencil and red crayon drawing, signed "A Rackham/Saas Fee/-- 99" on lower right-hand corner. Image size: 6 1/4 x 3 3/4 inches: 159 x 95 mm. Matted, framed and glazed. (frame size: 14 5/8 x 11 3/4 inches; 371 x 298 mm.). A pencil and red crayon drawing depicting five women in Swiss costume, three of them standing up straight and two of them leaning forward. "The 1890s was the period in which Rackham travelled in England, Europe and Scandinavia whenever opportunities allowed. His circle of friends had widened by this time to include Frank Keen, Sam Hamer, and the two Andrewes brothers, Herbert and Percy.. The five formed themselves into a kind of jolly walking club, which they called the Fünfverein (Five Club). Their English holidays took them to Dartmoor from a base at Kelly College, Tavistock, and European holidays to France, Austria, Switzerland and Germany." (James Hamilton. Arthur Rackham. The villages in its neighborhood are Saas-Almagell, Saas-Grund and Saas-Balen. .
