1795. PHARMACOPEIA NOSOCOMII REGII EDINBURGENSIS [The Medications used in the Royal Edinburgh Infirmary]. Edinburgh, 1795. 12mo. vi,63pp. This pharmacopeia is divided into three parts: a list of "simples" (single substances, mostly herbs), a list of mixed medications with recipes, and dosage ("posologia") instructions. The introduction gives weights, and cautions the practitioner against dispensing without careful measurement. The Royal Infirmary was founded in 1729, and is the oldest "voluntary (private non-profit) hospital" in Scotland. Tree-calf; front board and blank pulling loose, almost detached. Extremities worn; library stamps on endpaper and verso of title. .
