First edition, but only Volumes I. and II. of three. x,418; 463 pp. The final page of Vol. I. is misnumbered "317;" and in Vol. II. page 45 is misnumbered "54." Octavo, contemporary mottled calf, black morocco label and decorative gilt-stamping to spines, all edges speckled blue. Volume II. has a chip at crown. Both volumes have shallow loss at heels and joints with hairline cracks. Nonetheless, they are attractive and sound, with clean texts, and in very good plus condition. Scarce first edition copies of Volumes I. and II. of Kames's popular work. .
