Limited edition, being number 895 of 1000 copies. This collected edition of Foster's works features reprints in facsimile of first editions, where available, or the earliest obtainable editions where copyright editions are not on file in the Library of Congress. Each reproduction is in the form of the original, be it sheet, broadside, in magazine or in songbook, and is printed on specially made rag paper, water-marked "Foster Hall Reproduction." Two hundred and one original songs and compositions are reproduced, to which are added guitar and other arrangements of Foster's work and his arrangements of the work of other composers, and one original first editon (My Story of Love. NY: Shapiro, Bernstein & Co. Inc. 1946) is laid-in, for a total of 229 pieces. The set is nearly complete, lacking only one piece. (The missing piece is Jeanie with the light brown hair; however, an arrangement of the work for guitar is present.) A comprehensive index accompanies the set. As the set was offered only to libraries when issued, and not for public sale, this set is exlibrary; all of the individual pieces are neatly marked in the upper right corner with the call number. The condition of most pieces is quite fine; but some of the more popular compositions, like Beautiful Dreamer, show moderate soil and wear. The sheets are housed in three, heavy buckram, clamshell cases, which show mild wear; the cases are stored within a specially designed steel slipcase. .
