No place, autograph. No date [Last part of the 17th century?]. 8 x 12 cm oblong. Mounted on a larger sheet of paper meas. 19.5 x 16 cm. Collector's blue rozette like 'sticker' to left blank margin of paper mount. Poggendorff vol. I, p. 458: Dethlev Cluver [1645? - 1708], mathematician, astronomer and philosopher. member of the Royal Society from 1678 onwards. He lived in London until 1688, owned his own printing shop there and corresponded with Wilhelm Leibniz a.o things on infinitesimals and the quadrature of the circle. Bernhard Nieuwentijdt [1654 - 1718] was a medical doctor, philosopher and mathematician, Magistraat and a number of times Mayor of Purmerend. Founder of Physico-theology in Holland, Anti Descartes and Anti Spinoza. His most important work was 'Het regt gebruik der werelt beschouwingen, ter overtuiginge van ongodisten en ongelovigen aangetoont' [1715], translated into English, French and German, in which empiric research of nature was the basis of knowledge leading to God. Nieuwentijt's 1694 'Considerationes circa analyseos ad quanttitates infinitè ...' was heavily attacked by Leibniz and Bernouilli. It was followed by 'Analysis infinitorum, seu Curvalineorum ...'[1695]. Perhaps this small written token of respect by Clüver dates back to this period, say 1695 -1700?, considering Clüver's own preoccupation with infinitesimals.

Voorwaarden bij de verkoop volgens de richtlijnen opgesteld door NVvA en ILAB. Prijzen excl. btw [Nederland en Europa] en porto, behoudens houders van een BTW registratie nummmer. Porto tegen kostprijs. Normaalgesproken levering met factuur in het geval van bekende relaties, veelal wordt gevraagd de factuur bij vooruitbetaling te voldoen. Oudere stukken worden aangetekend en verzekerd verstuurd. Koeriersdiensten Fedex, DHL etc. mogelijk op verzoek, kosten voor de kopende partij.
