HARBOUR SCENE.- Watercolour.- - A very skillful watercolour, early 19th c., depicting 2 vessels moored at a wooden jetty, the vessels fully rigged and [all] hands on deck. The vessel on the left with full sials. Each vessel w. a small sloop at its bow. Mid center 2 more sails. To the right the village w. a large tower in the distance and 2 small round towers [resembling Sneek's 'Waterpoort'] to the right on the quai. On the jetty a man, a woman and 2 children. The flag flying from the vessel on the left looks like a dutch flag.

Meas. appr. 18 x 12 cm. Early 19th c. Paper all over some browning, affecting the colours somewhat. Left and upper margin some discol. Verso all margins strenghthened w. paper. Lower left a vague signature, illegible. A lovely harbour scene by a very skillful watercolorist, excellent composition and detail. Paper browned.
