Amsterdam, Netherlands, November 30, 1948. 1948. - Approximately 70 words typed on his 8-1/8 inch high by 5-3/4 inch wide creamy white official stationery with "De Burgemeester van Amsterdam" printed in blue at top left under the embossed seal of the City of Amsterdam. In his letter, addressed to the President of the Saint Nicholas Society in New York William M. Clearwater, d'Ailly extends his "hearty greetings" to the members of the Saint Nicholas Society on the occasion of the society's anniversary. He apologizes for not being able to attend the dinner "but I hope to meet you on another visit to the United States of America." Signed "AJD" with his initials as Burgomaster (Mayor) of Amsterdam. Folded for mailing with minor creases to the edges. Near fine.
