Dayman, Dwight. Canadian artist associated with NYC's Castelli Gallery in 1970. - An Original Lithographic Collage of a Sun Rising over an Abstract Image, Consisting of Patterns Lithographed on Layers of Tissue Laid on Watermarked Art Paper Signed and Dated by the Artist Dwight Dayman on the Verso.

1978. 1978. - The 24 inch high by 19-1/2 inch wide lithographic collage on a 30 inch high by 22-1/4 inch wide watermarked art paper consists of images and patterns lithographed on layers of blue & red tissue paper. The abstract image, constructed of consecutive layers, consists of a layer of yellow tissue covered by red tissue with a notch at the top from which peeks out the bright yellow sun. A large section of bright blue tissue, filling the lower two thirds of the print overlaps the red tissue. Three darker blue rectangles of diminishing sizes are laid as blocks upon the blue background. Smokey grayish shapes float within these blocks. Fine. The collage is signed and dated in pencil by Dwight Dayman on the verso. The Canadian artist Dwight Dayman was associated with the Castelli Galery in New York City in 1970. He was a frequent visiting artist at the Western Front Society in Vancouver. Dayman died of AIDS at a young age. An artist run center based in Vancouver, BC, the Western Front Society was founded by several Canadian artists in 1973. The 8 founding members Martin Bartlett, Mo van Nostrand, Kate Craig, Henry Greenhow, Glenn Lewis, Eric Metcalfe, Michael Morris and Vincent Trasov sought to create a space to explore and create new forms of art.
