Profusely illustrated in color and black & white. Near fine. First edition, limited to 500 copies. Signed in full by Russell Forester on the front fold of the wrappers and numbered "111/500". The text includes an essay "Russell Forester: Art Beyond Architecture" by Michael Zakian and "Filmic Dissolves on Russell Forester" by Alan J. J. Cohen. After serving in the Army Corps of Engineers in the mid-1940s, where he worked as a draftsman for architect Lloyd Ruocco, Forester began working as a freelance architectural designer in 1948. In 1950, he began studying architecture at the Chicago Institute of Design, where he was mentored by Mies Van Der Rohe. He completed several modernist buildings in La Jolla, Calif. before receiving his architectural license in 1960. Among his well- known designs are the Peterson/Russell Forester Residence in Point Loma [1965], the Urey Residence in La Jolla [1954] and the Jack-in-the-Box restaurant in San Diego [1951]. Fine .
