The stories are illustrated by the noted artist and comic creator J. M. Condé. The fanciful stories feature various animal characters such as Mr. Rabbit and Mr. Dog. With a preface by the author. Mr. Paine is perhaps best known for his friendship with Mark Twain, and as author of "Mark Twain: A Biography" (1912). --- In full ribbed green cloth-covered boards with titling in white and illustrations in black and lighter green to cover & spine. Lacks a dust jacket. --- With some loss of titling (especially on spine), tears to cloth at tail of spine, spotting to back panel and with splotch of soiling to title page, otherwise remaining intact. Note: A weakened front hinge has been repaired on this item.; Small Octavo - 7-1/2 to 8 in. tall; 272 pages. Good with no dust jacket .
