Including a presentation certificate from 'Hays Wharf Limited' thanking Percy Tibbs for his help during the general strike, 1926. ** Photograph from the back page of a General Strike edition of the Daily Graphic, published on 15 May 1926. As the dock workers were on strike, the government employed volunteer labour to unload goods (including food) from the London docks. University students were encouraged to work as strikebreakers. *** Family history records show that: When Percy Joan Browning Tibbs was born on February 4, 1881, in Wanstead, Essex, England, his father, John, was 38 and his mother, Julia, was 34. He married Lilian Annie Dye and they had six children together. He then married Elsie Ruth Gladden and they had one daughter together. He died on July 21, 1971, in Norfolk, England, at the age of 90.
