Hobson, Richard Pearson - Richard Pearson Hobson, (Als) Autographed Letter, Signed

Buffalo NY, 1907. (Als) Autographed letter, signed, two pages, Buffalo. Aug. 6, 1907 to the Guild of St. Elizabeth on "Niagara Hotel" stationery. The page measures 8" x 5" and is signed boldly as Richard Pearson Hobson. "I assure you it gives me great pleasure to comply with your request and I enclose the Quotation herewith, with all good wishes for the success of the Fair and the good work of the Guild of St. Elizabeth". There is a slight hole at the top of the second page and some mounting remnants on the back page. The paper is in fine condition an the ink is dark. Richmond Pearson Hobson was one of the great heroes of the Spanish-American War, following only Theodore Roosevelt and George Dewey. Hobson's fame and popularity was the result of leading an unsuccessful attempt to block the harbor of Santiago de Cuba by sinking the collier MERRIMAC in the entrance. He was awarded the Medal of Honor. He also served as a Congressman from Alabama. Very good .
