LINDSAY, TERRY - Quean (Queen) of Tarts
News Stand Library 24. 1949, 1st News Stand Library edition. Paperback, Sextodecimo -- from 5.75" to 6.75". Canadian printing. Originally published in 1945, by Phoenix; Lindsay also writes as Peggy Gaddis, and I have no idea why it's spelled "Quean," so don't ask; "Behind the scenes, scheming and torrid loving ran a full gamut of shocking events before the forces of lust and high passion are disentangled from the real love of a man and a woman." (one of the things that I like most about the cover blurbs on these old sleaze paperbacks is the tendency--no, the obsession --some of these blurb writers have with changing tenses--it's as if they're trying to make work for proofreaders, but the proofreaders can only read Sanscrit); lightly sunned spine, reading creases, impressions, rubbing, handling wear, pgs. 77-81 have a 1.25" vertical tear beginning at top edge (tear is through text, but text is completely readable), light soil to rear panel, light scratching;. Good.
