Author was the daughter of Colonel Peococke of Hawthornden [house] Howick. Verses of local and religious themes, with some translations from German of Schiller and Holty. Nice engraved illus of Rangitoto, Howick, Manukau and Egmont, many showing Maoris and native bush scenes, plus many more by Phillip Walsh and A Cragg. CONDITION Brown cloth with bevilled edges, bright gilt decoration and titles to front and spine. Cloth in very nice clean condition, just starting to fray at spine ends and slightest rubbing to tips, pp x 260 with 15 illus and 31 pages of advertising. Bright and crisp copy with very dust spotting to edges, frontis illus of Hawthornden is missing, ownership stamp to clear edge of 2 pages noted. #New Zealand Literature#. Very Good/N/A.
