(IT IS. A MAGAZINE FOR ABSTRACT ART). PAVIA, PHILIP, EDITOR - IT IS. A MAGAZINE FOR ABSTRACT ART: ISSUE 6 (AUTUMN 1965) - WALDORF PANELS 1 & 2 ON SCULPTURE

 -
New York, Second Half Publishing., 1965, First Edition. Wrappers in Dust Jacket, 4to, 132pp, profusely illustrated in b&w. One of the very few publications devoted exclusively to the art and writings of the American Abstract Expressionist movement, "It Is." lasted for a mere six issues. After a five year hiatus, this is the final installment of Philip Pavia's notable magazine which documents the proceedings of the two "It Is." sponsored Sculpture symposia held at New York's Waldorf Hotel in February and March of 1965. The participants were Herbert Ferber, Reuben Kadish, Ibram Lassaw, Philip Pavia, James Rosati, Bernard Rosenthal, David Slivka, Isamu Noguchi, Claes Oldenburg, George Segal, George Sugarman, and James Wines. In addition, there are over "ninety plates of sculptors working in New York City". A handsome copy of this uncommon item showing a small closed tear to the dust jacket at the crown of the spine.. Very Good.
