NÍ RIAIN, ÍDE M. - A Story History of Mount Anville 1799-1988 [Signed].
Leinster Leader Ltd. 1987..Paperback. Mount Anville Secondary School is a Roman Catholic, all-girls post-primary school in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown in Ireland. It was originally an all-boarding school, but in recent years due to decreased demand for such schools it has become a day-school. It has approximately 650 students, and is attached to Mount Anville Junior School, Mount Anville National School and Mount Anville Montessori School. It was established in 1853 by nuns of the Society of the Sacred Heart in the former home of Mr. William Dargan, an influential railway tycoon. It has a reputation as a sporting school, especially in hockey, tennis and netball. Many former students have gone on to play for Ireland at the international level. In addition to academics and sport, the school participates in charity work, art, music, and drama.Mount Anville has a close relationship with the nearby school Blackrock College, often staging dramatic presentations and concerts together. In November 2007 Blackrock and Mount Anville performed a version of Saturday Night Fever entitled Fever.Past pupils include former President of Ireland and current UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson. The school has its own chapel, featuring a stained-glass window by renowned Irish artist Harry Clarke, and a large sportshall., Signed by author.
