Duodecimo (142x85mm) marbled calf with part of vol.number label left (hinges partly cracked but still secure/tips worn and 1cm damage to head & .5cm to foot of spine/spine darkened) Titlepage +[6]pp +211pp. Bookplate of Library of American board of commissioners for foreign Missions and bookplate of Jeremiah Evarts. Some foxing mainly to first pages but neat, tight & clean. Sir Henry Middleton & Mr. Grose explore the East Indies and Commodore Roggewein's voyage for discovery of Southern Lands. This section also includes an interesting account of the Japanese behaviour towards visiting European ships. From a series of early childrens books on exploration with all the charming required plates.
