Endpapers not glued down, Frontis with edge creasing & slight tears without loss, a well margined very clean tight copy (WING C5541). *History of French wars in which Commynes played a prominent part first as adviser to the Burgundian Duke Charles the Rash but switching his allegiance to King Louis XI whose Machiavellian subtlety he preferred to Charles' arrogance and impetuosity. Written in French and first published in 1525 they are a primary source for the history of that time.
