Describes Rhinoceros mercki (= Rhinocerus kirchbergensis) and its distribution in northern and central German sites. Merck's rhinoceros (Rhinocerus kirchbergensis (= Stephanorhinus kirchbergensis) is an extinct genus of rhinoceros native to northern Eurasia that lived during the Lower to Early Late Pleistocene epoch. It had two horns and was a relatively large rhino. It weighed over 3,000 kg (6,600 lbs) and measured about 2 meters (6.56 ft) tall and 4 meters (13.12 ft) in length, having a size similar to a white rhino (from Wiki). The halftone plates on glossy paper are very attractive. Warmly inscribed by the author on the front wrapper. Name stamp of Kretzoi, Budapest, July 29, 1968 on the front wrapper. No other ownership marks. Slight edge wear to wrappers especially on the spine; a tight copy in very good condition..
