Martov, L. - Kant S Gindenburgom, Marks S Kantom. Iz Letopisi Ideinoi Reaktsii (from Kant to Hindenburg, Marx to Kant. From the Annals of Ideological Reaction)

Petrograd: Sotsialist, 1917. Softcover. First edition; 7 1/4 x 5; uncut, pp. [1], 6-16; newspaper stock, printed in black; mild age-toning and wear to wraps; very good to near fine condition. L. Martov, pseudonym for Iulii Osipovich Tsederbaum (1873 – 1923) was a Russian politician and leader of the Mensheviks. A close associate of Lenin, the two established the League of Struggle for the Emancipation of the Working Class in 1895, for which they were exiled to Siberia, and co-founded the party journal Iskra. At the second Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Party in Brussels in 1903, Martov opposed Lenin's idea to limit party membership to â€oeprofessional revolutionaries.†Consequently, the former would became the Menshevik leader - a faction of the Russian Socialist movement, which split the Russian Social-Democratic Labour Party into Bolsheviks and Mensheviks. After the Revolution, Martov disagreed with the new regime and went into exile in Germany in 1920. In Berlin, he was the editor of the journal "Socialist Courier" until his death. The pamphlet discussed the ideals and philosophies of Immanuel Kant, Karl Marx, and Georgii Plekhanov. OCLC lists one copy at Columbia, none other in the trade (as of March 2016). Ill.: 0. 2.
