First edition; 7 3/4 x 5 3/4; pp. [1], 4-15; beige wraps, printed in black; entirely uncut; minor foxing and spotting to margins; a small nick to fore-edge; illustrated with a table; very good condition. A, what appears to be, the first and only issue of a series, entitled "Biblioteka raboche-krestianskoi krasnoi armii," by the forebearer of modern, Russian, Scientific Atheism Emelian Iaroslavskii, or Yemelyan Yaroslavsky (1878 - 1943). He was a Jewish-Russian revolutionary, journalist, historian, and anti-religious political activist. He led the League of the Militant Godless (the major anti-religious organization of the Communist Party) and served as editor of the League's periodical, "Bezbozhnik." It is said that even Bulgakov consulted it before writing "The Master and Margarita." The pamphlet focused on the "new," post-Revolution, Soviet Army, the reasons for the demise of the "old" army, their goals, etc. OCLC lists two copies at the LOC and Columbia, none other in the trade (as of February 2016).
