Webster, John, introduction by Travis Bogard, - The White Devil (Chandler Editions in Drama).San Francisco, CA, Chandler Pub Co, (1961). VG PB. Chandler centered the destinies of his characters around the lives of two protagonists, Victoria and Flamineo. The woman's story is one of high passion and considering that Victoria is to be played by a boy of marked sexual capacity with a taste for luxuries and a desire for position well abaove her means. A play intensely concerned with specific evils in contemporary England although he called it Italy. The real Victoria had been murdered in 1585 and Webster dramatized her story with reasonable accuracy. Green pictorial cover shows actors in front of an elaborate theater facade.
