Anderson, James (editor) - The Bee, or Literary Weekly Intelligencer, consisting of original pieces and selections from performances of merit, foreign and domestic. Volume II (First Edition 1791)

1791. 1st Edition. 0 pp. Hardcover. Good in full leather binding with front board and fly page present but detached. Back board separated (held on by one string) and back end paper detached but present. Mild wear to tips of boards. The rest of the binding is firm. The pages, although faded from age, are clean and show no markings or foxing. Page edges show usual dusting but no foxing. Extremely rare item in the first edition. Perhaps the most noteworthy contribution to this volume is the letter by Robert Burns addressed to the poet who famously immortalized Burns's unique talent in his poem "Oran Ussaig--to R. Burns/ The Song of a Skylark" (pp. 317-318). In his letter, Burns expresses his appreciation: "You touch the darling chord of my heart." (pp. 318-319) j. Also printed is "On Scottish Songs" by J. Runcole (pp. 201-210). Good.
