This is the 5th edition of Rufinus Aquileiensis' translation, but the 1st Venetian edition. It was the first time all of Josephus`s translated works appeared in one volume, and all subsequent volumes offered only slight revisions of this text. *Book one (originally writen in AD 75) is Josephus`s account of the first Roman-Jewish war (AD 66-73), in which he fought against Rome until capture by the future emperor Vespasian. Book two (writen originally during Domitian`s reign in AD94)is a twenty volume work recounting the history of the Jews from the Hebrew Bible up to the aformentioned Roman-Jewish war.
