Including reprints and facsimiles, the works offer an interesting insight into both art and contemporary history of the era, including voyages to the new world include a great many decorative title pages and interesting examples of early typesetting. This valuable compilation of tracts, poetry, prose and other contemporary documents was first assembled under the editorship of Edward Arber and published in eight volumes between 1877 and 1896. In a cloth binding with gilt detailing. Externally quite smart, there is wear to the joints, extremities, boards and backstrips, with some markings to the boards, particularly to volume one. Internally the pages are generally firmly bound, although there is some strain to the binding in some areas, and are bright and clean throughout, aside from some foxing to endpages, as well as the odd ink inscription.
