"I have endeavoured in this little book to chronicle the political history of the last sixteen years in the spirit and language of Sir John Froissart, as if the events recorded had happened in the fourteenth instead of in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.." remarks Gould in his introduction to the first volume. These volumes can perhaps been seen as something of a precursor to '1066 And All That..' There are numerous illustrations with all contemporary figures dressed in the style of Medieval knights, monks etc and each volume has decorative endpapers. In full cloth binding. Externally smart. There is some wear to the extremities including marks and staining to the boards, fading and discolouration, bumping to the corners and fraying to the spine. The decorated endpapers in the first volume are slightly discoloured. The hinge of the third volume is strained but holding. Internally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with the very occasional handling mark or brown spot. Very Good . Ill.: Various. Very Good .
