The Catalogue of Drawings by British Artists consists of three volumes of out four. These texts are alphabetised between volumes and were originally sold at the British Museum. Freeman O'Donoghue was the assistant-keeper in the department of Prints and Drawings and Laurence Binyon was the assistant in the same department. The British Museum, London, was established in 1753, and, is widely considered to be one of the world's greatest museums of human history and culture. Its permanent collection, numbering some eight million works, is amongst the finest, most comprehensive, and largest in existence and originates from all continents, illustrating and documenting the story of human culture from its beginnings to the present. The Department of Prints and Drawings contains the national collection of Western prints and drawings. It is one of the top three collections of its kind in the world. In cloth bindings. Externally, smart though some volumes have slight loss to the spine and small closed tears. The boards are slightly rubbed and there is some bumping. All volumes bear a library label or library number to the spine, also evidence of previous labels to the spine that have since been removed. Internally, all smart and firmly bound. There is a number of institutional labels to the front pastedowns and some ink stamps throughout. All volumes are very bright and clean. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
