Charles Holme (1848-1923) was an English journalist and art critic, founding editor of The Studio from 1893. He published a series of books promoting peasant art in the first decades of the 20th century. 'The coloured plates in this publication are reproduced by an expensive special process which gives the nearest facsimile effects ever yet obtained. Each plate is printed separately with its own combination of selected colours.' Containing volumes 1-6. Six volumes of eight only. In paper wraps. Externally, sound, though with some slight wear to the extremities, and some slight discolouration to the edges. Internally, generally firmly bound, although the first few pages are detached.
