London, Peter Davies, 1926-27. Cloth. A handsome twelve volumes collection of the Bradenham Edition of the novels of Disraeli, complete with their dustwrappers. Includes an introduction to each volume by Philip Guedalla. With decorative pictorial endpapers. The set comprises: Vivian Grey, The Young Duke, Popanilla and Other Tales, Contarini Fleming, Alroy, Henrietta Temple, Venetia, Coningsby, Sybil, Tancred, Lothair, Endymion and Falconet. "Philip Guedalla (1889–1944) was a historian and essayist, always more interested in men than movements. His The Second Empire (1922) was a study of the emperor rather than of the empire, who made solid contributions to knowledge in titles such as Gladstone and Palmerston (1928) and The Queen and Mr. Gladstone (1933)" - ODNB. Bound in cloth with gilt lettering, and gilt and embossed decoration, and unclipped dustwrappers. Externally, smart. There is only some slight wear to the extremities, with just some slight bumping. Dustwrapper are sound, with come chipping the edges and to the head and tail of the spine, resulting in some loss. Some closed tears to each wrap, with some slight discolouration to the spines, and the occasional foxing. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with some spots to the untrimmed edges. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: None. Very Good Indeed/Good Only.
