Op de achtergrond blaast een jongen het vuur aan. Gegraveerd door Pieter Tanjé naar Aert Schouman. Vulcanus, ook Hephaistos, is een figuur uit de Griekse mythologie. Hij is de god van de smeedkunst, het vuur en de ambachtslieden en is smid van de goden.
