Later printed engraving of Pomona, originally made by Philips Galle (1537-1612). Used in De deis gentium by Philips Galle, Antwerpen 1581. A model book intended for the instruction of young artists and artisans, consisting of twenty-nine engravings of ancient gods, each depicted in the nude, in diverse and complicated postures, as if to instruct the viewer on the anatomy of the body. A few lines of Latin verse by ugo Favolius (1523-1585) underneath each image. At the back the stamp of Atelier G. Postgreve.[NL] Latere druk van Philips Galle's gravure van godin Pomona. Gebruikt in instructieboek voor anatomie. Pomona is een figuur uit de Griekse Mythologie. Ze is de godin van de boomvruchten.  Engraving on laid paper, 130 x 80 mm, pasted on a bigger sheet of paper, 300 x 240 mm. Cut on the margins but in good condition.
