Nice view of de Koninklijke Bazar, currently Museum Beeld en Geluid in Den Haag (before the Postmuseum, Museum voor Communicatie), zeestraat 82.This first shopping mall of the Netherlands was started by Dirk Aartsz. Boer around 1830 as Japansch Magazijn op het Plein. Koning Willem II was a regular customer and asked to move it to the Scheveningse weg, currently Zeestraat. The Bazarstraat was named after the Bazar. In the early days the Bazar also had gardens and a parc, het vijverpark (currently Paleistuinen).Dirk Boer dreef een 'Japansch Magazijn' op het Plein. Op verzoek van koning Willem II verplaatste hij zijn winkel naar de toenmalige Scheveningse weg (huidige Zeestraat). Daar werd een van de eerste Nederlandse warenhuizen gesticht: de Groote Koninklijke Bazar, oftewel de Grand Bazar Royal, oftewel de Bazar Boer. De neogotische kantelen waren in 1870 reeds verwijderd.
