He founded and edited the scientific magazine La Nature, a French language magazine which aimed to popularize science, with articles ranging from natural history, military developments, medicine, geology, etc. Gaston’s brother Albert Tissandier (1839-1906) an architect and archaeologist, was a major contributor, supplying many articles and illustrations.
