London, William Darton, c1820. Leather. This is a scarce edition of this work by Mrs Mary Hughes. Features an engraved Frontispiece. Mrs Hughs was the author of several children's books which she dedicated to her nieces and nephews. She was greatly influenced by Maria Edgeworth. Her works became incredibly popular in the U.K. leading to their publication in America unbeknown to Hughs. Hughs was also a member of the Christian Tract Society, and wrote several publications for them. In a quarter calf binding. Externally, worn. Bumped. Spine sunned. Joints starting but still reasonably firm. Hinges weak. Internally, binding tender. Pages spotted throughout. Good Only . Ill.: Unamed. Good Only .
