William Pickering (2 April 1796 – 27 April 1854) was an English publisher, notable for introducing cloth binding to British publishing. Pickering began working as an antiquarian bookseller before 1820, and quickly moved into publishing. In a red calf leather binding with beige paper covered boards. Externally, sound with slight rubbing. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. There is a bookseller's paper label to the front pastedown. There is a blind stamp to the recto of front free end papers. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
