Oxford, Publisher Unknown, c1813. Leather. A nineteenth century copy of the Holy Bible. Stereotype edition. The date and publisher details appear to have been removed from the title page; copperplate inscriptions suggest that it was published in or around 1813. This particular copy had been diligently compared and revised, by His Majesty's Special Command, and was appointed to be read in churches. In a red morocco binding with gilt detailing to boards, spine and fore-edge. Externally, sound with slight rubbing. Slight loss to the extremities and some marks. The front joint is strained, and the rear board is attached by cords only. The rear board is also slightly warped, with a little loss. Three personal ink copperplate inscriptions to the front free endpaper. Internally, the binding is tender in places. The pages are generally bright with scattered spotting and slight age toning, and tidemarks to the bottom right of pages 451 to 677. There is some loss to the bottom of the title page, where the date and publisher details appear to have been removed. Fair . Ill.: None. Fair .
