London, Fun Office, 1885. Leather. A very smart little copy of Charles Leland's humorous brand of poetry that is offered here complete with its original card wraps. Charles Godfrey Leland (1824 – 1903) was an American humorist and folklorist. Brand-New Ballads was the sequel to his hugely successful Hans Breitmann Ballads, being amusing poems written in a terrible German accent. Scarce. Backstrip has been labelled by hand in gold ink. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout. Armorial bookplate of Beresford-Massy to front pastedown. Very Good . Ill.: None.
