Edited by his son, A M Crabbe. George Crabbe is best known for his early use of the realistic narrative form and his descriptions of middle and working-class working life and people. In a full morocco binding with gilt stamping to the spine and boards. Externally, smart with patches of light rubbing to the joints and to the spine, particularly to the raised bands. Minor rubbing to the extremities as well. Spine has faded slightly. Front hinge is slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Some handling marks and spots to endpapers. Small tidemark to engraved frontispiece and title page at the top edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned with spotting to the first and last few pages. The odd spots throughout.
