John Dryden; Rev. George Gilfillan - The Poetical Works of John Dryden with Life, Critical Dissertation, and Explanatory Notes

 1569606695,
Edinburgh, James Nichol, 1858. Leather. A very handsome collection of the late Poet Laureate's works. Revered by Sir Walter Scott, Dryden (1631-1700) was an English poet and essayist, who for some time gave his name to the literary culture of Restoration England ('the Age of Dryden'). With its original calf boards, marbled edging, spectacular endpapers, and broad, clear margins, this lovely and easily legibile compendium is sure to impress. Rebound in calf using old calf boards. Generally smart, lightly rubbed in places. Lovely custard colour with gilt bordering and colourful, marbled edging. Slight wear to corners of boards. Internally, front hinges quite strained but gatherings remain firmly bound together. Pages clean with just the odd spot. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
