Messrs. Christie, Manson & Woods - Engravings Prices & States Nov 1904 to Dec 1905

 1567886683,
London , Messrs. Christie, Manson & Woods, 1905. Cloth. An interesting hand-bound collection of auction catalogues from the years 1904 and 1905. Featuring more than twenty catalogues from the auctioneers Christie, Manson & Woods, known today simply as "Christie's", the world's largest fine art auction house. Each separate catalogue contains a comprehensive list of the engravings that were offered on the day, with many contemporary annotations, including numerical additions and coded notes, on most pages. Includes three catalogues still complete with their original wraps. With an attractive, handwritten copperplate title to front wrap. Really a fascinating and unusual collection. Bound in cloth-backed paper wraps. Externally, a little worn to backstrip and extremities, as one expects from paper wraps of this age, but generally in good condition with just some creasing to corners. Internally, individual catalogues are generally firmly bound. Catalogues are bound in with one string fastening to the top corner. Pages are for the most part bright and clean with some spots and handling marks evident, particularly to titles, and a little age toning to edges. Good Only . Ill.: None. Good Only .
