In 1831 Croker published a new edition of Boswell's Life of Johnson including the Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides, which was vindictively attacked by Macaulay in the Edinburgh Review, but which remained the best edition until superseded by the work of George Birkbeck Hill. (DNB) Featuring a frontispiece with numerous portraits of Johnson. A new edition, thoroughly revised, with much additional matter. In a brown cloth binding. Externally worn, with marks and wear to the cloth on the head of the spine. Spine is sunned and cocked. Hinges are strained. Internally, binding strained.
