The book was produced as a souvenir of the 200th performance of "If I Were King", at the St James's Theatre, February 26th 1903, produced and performed by George Alexander. A few entries have been made by the previous owner, including children's copperplate signatures. Frontispiece of François Villon, the poet who "If I Were a King" was based upon, with tissue guard. In original illustrated cream cloth binding, embellished with gilt titling and design. Externally, sound with slight rubbing to boards and extremities. Shelfwear to head and tail of spine. Back hinge slightly strained but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound, although strained in places. Bright and clean with only light spotting to first and last few pages.
