Illustrated by George Cruikshank, it catalogued "in excruciating detail" the "petty outrages, minor humiliations, and tiny discomforts that make up everyday human existence". Harriet Corp contradicted this work from a religious perspective with her 'Antidote', featuring the widow Placid and her daughter. In original paper covered boards.
