Toulouse , Societe Des Livres Religieux, 1856. Leather. A smartly bound scarce set of this guide and history of the bible, illustrated with maps. A scarce three volume set of this Nineteenth-Century Bible guide and history, in attractive quarter-morocco leather bindings. The volumes are written in French. Including maps and timelines, history and analysis, the volumes make for a comprehensive and interesting example of Bible study, and is described as for the use of teachers, evangelists and priests in their studies of both testaments. The maps included depict such events as the Exodus from Egypt, as well as Palestine and Roman Europe. Each volume contains the inkstamp and bookplate of the Guille-Alles Library of Guernsey. In decorative quarter-morocco bindings with gilt detailing and paper-covered boards. Externally smart. Some minor wear to the extremities, joints and backstrip, as well as some inscriptions and institutional labels to backstrip. The hinges of volumes two and three are slightly strained. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, although there is foxing to endages and maps to the rear of each volume, as well as the odd spot throughout. There are inkstamps to each half-title and title page. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
