Marbled end papers; front pastedown damaged where bookplate carelessly removed; pages clean; binding tight; double rules & rosettes on each board, with gilt badge in centre of each board (motto on front board is 'Fortem Posce Animum'); leather a little worn at board edges; spine faded to brown, with some wear; raised bands, with elaborate gilt decoration in 4 lower panels; title panel, & top panel with gilt crown & 'S & S'.
