Trueblood first met Miller in June 1951, when he went to Laity Lodge for the initial retreat and said he had a combination of. intellectual sharpness and spiritual depth. He calls New Wine a book of witness, a first-hand testsimony of what has transpired in his own life thus far. Millers calls his experiences in various conferences in Southwest Texas enlightening because most people say they do not know how to pray, how to witness to other people about Christ without being embarrassed, how to simply commuicate with their wives and families, or how to approach their vocational and social lives as committed Christians.
