Nordenskiold who explored Greenland in 1883, 5 yrs before Fridtjof Nansen's famed crossing of the lower third of the island-continent. 57 hours later they had explored had covered 280 miles and found no vegetation, just endless snow. Nansen felt the Baron's pace could not have been possible so a race was organized. Also memorials to Jerry Nunn and Toni Sailor.
